Five Georgian citizens have been detained in Turkey on charge of extortion of money. According to the Turkish media, the criminal group acted in several districts of Istanbul city where the special operation was carried out.
Mother and daughter killed in Kareli district

Mother and daughter, women aged 62 and 31 were killed in Takhtisdziri village, Kareli district of Shida Kartli region. Neighbors found the women in their house dead. Officers of Criminal Police are working at the crime scene.
Georgian athletes allegedly among the criminal gang members arrested in New York

Georgian sportsmen Avtandil Khurtsidze and Levan Makashvili are among the members of criminal gang arrested in New York recently. The Georgian Boxing Federation has information that both athletes are training in Brooklyn, although they cannot connect to them and the information about detention cannot be verified for the time being.Georgian members of criminal gang arrested in New York. Officers of Central Criminal Police Department as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained two Russian citizens: Dimitri U. (DoB 1980) and Vitali L. (DoB1974) for illegal purchase, keeping and selling of drugs in especially large quantities, Georgia’s Interior Ministry reports. Investigation established that detainees sold various types of drugs through internet. They received order through the internet and distributed drugs in various districts of Tbilisi.During the personal search of the detainee law enforcers seized 333,15gr. of psychotropic substance – the so called “Bio”, amphetamine, 177 pills containing MDMA drug. During the search of the rental apartment and vehicle policemen also seized 1kg anof d 540,25 gr. of psychotropic substance – the so called “Bio”, 887,74gr. of amphetamine powder, 91 pills containing MDMA abd 29 pieces of the same pill.As a result of the investigative activities held within the frames of the investigation, policemen managed to seize 22 packages of the “Bio” drug distributed throughout Tbilisi districts.Both of the detainees have already pleaded guilty. Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase, keeping and attempted selling of drugs- article 260, parts II and VI, sub-paragraph A and article 19-260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Shooting at Hospital of Infectious Diseases

Shooting was heard last night on the territory of Hospital of Infectious Diseases. The hospital’s windows are smashed. Nobody was injured in the shooting. According to law-enforcers, the shooting was carried out from the nearby block of apartments by a person presumably being under influence of alcohol. Investigation into the case is opened.
One person detained on charge of illegal keeping of arms and ammunition

Georgian law enforcers detained a person internationally wanted by Ankara’s Interpol. According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), S.B., born in 1972 was detained by the border-migration control checkpoint ‘Sadakhlo’. The detainee faces charges for the crime envisaged based on 463rd article of Turkey’s Criminal Code. Pre-extradition procedures are underway, MIA reports.

Officers of Anti-Corruption Agency of State Security Service detained Giorgi Matiashvili, Chief Specialist of Property Management, Economic Development, Planning and Statistics Department of Gurjaani Municipality, Kakheti region, on fact of taking bribe. Investigation determined that the detainee took a bribe from a citizen in the amount of 35 thousand GEL in return to promise to estimate former building of bio-laboratory located in Akhasheni village, auctioning and winning in the auction. Matiashvili took 5 thousand GEL in advance. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
Murder at Budapest Street solved

The murder that took place at Budapest Street in Tbilisi on April 9 is solved. A grand-son born in 1997 killed his grandfather. He inflicted fatal wounds to an elderly man, set fire to the house and escaped from the crime scene together with a friend. Law enforcers detained the crime suspect on charge of premeditated murder. The person admitted to have committed the murder. Full investigation into the case is ongoing.

Law enforcers reveal criminal scheme involving false passports

Georgian Interior Ministry’s General Inspection, State Security Service and Patrol Police Department have revealed the criminal scheme of departure for European countries by false passports. According to Georgia’s Interior Ministry, Turkish citizen Berkant D. was one of the organizers of the scheme who provided Iranian citizens’ departure for Europe in exchange for great sum of money. After receiving the money he and his criminal accomplices made false passports for them, brought them to Georgia and bought air tickets for them by using different passport data (real and false) to Turkey and European countries. Turkish citizen Berkant D. and one Iranian citizen have been detained by Georgia’s Interior Ministry’s General Inspection.
Former husband kills woman in Tbilisi

A 40-year-old woman was killed by her former husband in Tbilisi on April 25. The man gagged the woman with an electric wire. The suspect is detained as Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports. The detained driver is T. T. born in 1994. Investigation determined that the driver of BMW mark of the car drove the vehicle at the high speed and with violation of traffic rules. The car hit another car, which hit electricity post and hit two people waiting for transport at a bus stop.
