Press Conference with Mariam Mamadashvili, the winner of 2016 JESC and Georgian Delegation will be held on November 22 in the Press Center of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB), starting from 16:00 (local time).Mariam Mamadashvili from Georgia has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) 2016, held in Valletta, Malta on 20 November, with the song Mzeo (Sun).17 countries took part in the 14th edition of the annual singing competition for children between the ages of 9 and 14, hosted by Maltese Member PBS in the Mediterranean Conference Centre.It's the 3rd time Georgia have won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest following wins in 2011 and 2008, all with the same songwriter, Giga Kukhianidze.
Vardzia’s Church of Dormition caught fire

The church of Dormition of the Mother of God located in Vardzia cave complex caught fire last night,on November 1. As National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia reports, the candlestick burnt down and part of the unique frescoes were covered with soot. At this moment the church is closed for visitors and tourists. The specialists are examining the damage and soon restoration works will be launched. National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia has been carrying out a plan for preserving Vardzia complex carved into the rock for recent years. Within the frames of the project, special works, examinations and researches have been carried out in order to study the condition for conservation of the 12th century unique frescoes in the church of Dormition in the complex. The agency has been cooperating with Courtauld Institute of Art of the University of London and carrying out surveys in Vardzia Complex together Tbilisi State Academy of Arts over last four years. The extended area of Vardzia-Khertvisi has been submitted for future inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.Vardzia is a unique medieval complex dug out of the solid rock in southern Georgia, on the left bank of the Mtkvari River, thirty kilometres from the town of Aspindza.

Badri Maisuradze was elected with seven votes on this position.The recommendation Council of the Ministry of Culture has gathered with the aim to present a candidate to the post of the head of Opera and Ballet Theater.Within nine candidates the Commission has elected Badri Maisuradze to the post.Badri Maisuradze is the tenor and an actor. He performs at Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre, cooperates with the famous European opera companies: Deutche Opera (Berlin), Real Opera (Madrid), San Carlo (Naples).

Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) announces selection competition for 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). Applications will be received before September 25. Children aged 9-14 will be able to participate in the contest. The jury will reveal the winner, who will depart for Malta. JESC 2016 final will be held on November 20 in Valetta, Malta.

The first event of the Electronic Music festival Tbilisi JAM Fest was disrupted due to the incident yesterday.According to the director of the festival a clergyman along with several citizens arrived at the festival area and demanded to stop the event, after which electricity was cut off for the concert area. Police arrived at the site. The director of the festival plans to sue for damage inflicted to them.The organizers plan to find an alternative location. The festival had permission for arranging the event from Tbilisi City Hall.
