The Black Sea Arena will host Iliko Sukhishvili jubilee concert within the framework of Check-In Georgia Project. Dancers of Sukhishvilebi National Ballet Ensemble held a dress rehearsal last evening. The concert will be dedicated to the 110th jubilee of Iliko Sukhishvili, Georgian choreographer and dancer. The dancers will present 17 dances during the 2-hour-long program.

Navenakhevi Karstic Cave Natural Monument in Imereti region of Georgia is ready for receipt of visitors. After several-year pause, the cave will be accessible for tourists. More than 1 million GEL will be spent on arrangement of tourist infrastructure. The Preserve Territories Agency is working on rehabilitation plan.

Gelati Monastery returns to the list of world cultural heritage

After seven years of waiting, Gelati Monastery returns to the list of world cultural heritage.The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) made the regarding decision at the 41st Session of the World Heritage Committee, which is underway in Krakow town, Poland. It was agreed that the restoration works were fulfilled in accordance with the recommendations elaborated by the organization.Gelati Monastery Complex is the second monument after Mtskheta which has been transferred from the list of monuments being under the threat to main list of world cultural heritage during the last year.However, UNESCO has taken out Bagrati Temple from the list of world cultural heritage. Experts claimed that the monument lost its authenticity as a result of restoration works and Bagrati no more meets the criteria for which it was included in the list. Still is not ruled out that the monument may be returned to UNESCO list with another nomination. Official Tbilisi is working in this direction.

UNSECO made decision on Gelati Monastery and Bagrati Temple.Bagrati Temple, which was built in XI century, has been taken out from the list of world cultural heritage of UNESCO.Gelati Monastery, which was presented in the list along with the Bagrati Temple, was facing the same threat, however according to decision Gelati Monastery returns to the main list of the world cultural heritage monuments.Above mentioned issues were discussed at the 41st Session of the World Heritage Committee.

A star to Georgian opera baritone Lado Ataneli was opened outside Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theater on July 7. The famous baritone performed arias from operas by Verdi and Puccini before the opening ceremony. Ataneli’s partners were Iano Alibegashvili and Badri Maisuradze. Lado Ataneli’s debut was held in 1989. The Georgian baritone is already known worldwide.

Elton John to hold another concert in Georgia on September 17

The world-famous British musician, pianist and composer Sir Elton John will take to the stage in Georgia on September 16-17, 2017.According to Bank of Georgia, the organizers of the concert, Bank of Georgia’s Personal Service Group SOLO and Eastern Promotion added another concert on September 17 due to the high demand. The sale of the tickets for the 17 September concert will start on June 30 and will be available exclusively for SOLO customers, while from July 1 they will be available for anyone.The concert will take place at the Black Sea Arena concert hall in the village of Shekvetili, western Georgia. The place is the same spot where Christina Aguilera, Scorpions and Aerosmith have performed recently.Elton John will reportedly perform his old hits as well as several songs from his new album titled Wonderful Crazy Night.

Shooting of “Negative Numbers” to begin in September

Film director Uta Beria will begin shooting of film “Negative Numbers” starting mid-September. The plot is based on real stories and is about a joint project of Georgian National Rugby Union and UNICEF, namely, how rugby changed life of juveniles being in conflict with law. The film is joint Georgian-French-Italian production, and preparations for shooting are already launched at Zahesi former #10 Penitentiary Facility of Juveniles. Shooting of the film will end in October.

Solidarity Fund marked jubilee

Solidarity Fund marked its third jubilee of establishment with the charity exhibition of painter Tinatin Kobakhidze. The money collected from the exhibition-sale will be transferred for medical treatment of children and youngsters under 20 diagnosed with cancer.  Solidarity Fund managed to mobilize more than 10 million GEL after 2014 with support of state institutions and private companies. It managed to cover medication expenses of 390 children.
