Selection of participants for “Are You Smarter Than A 6th Grader?” a new project of First Channel is ongoing in Batumi city of Adjara region. A memorandum was signed between First Channel and Academy of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). The memorandum envisages exchange of information between the sides. Based on the document, MIA gives First Channel the right to access the material preserved in the archive, while the broadcaster is obliged to name the Archive of MIA as the source when preparing TV, radio and online products. Givi Mikanadze, Rector of MIA Academy organized a tour around the Archive preserve for Vasil Maghlaperidze, General Director of Georgian Public Broadcaster.

European journalists from Great Britain, Germany, Netherlands, Belarus and Ukraine became introduced with preparation works for 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). The journalists arrived at the invitation of Tourism National Administration.Georgia is hosting the 15th JESC this year after having won the competition three times. Tbilisi Olympic Palace will host the 15th JESC on November 26. Young singers from 16 European countries will arrive in Tbilisi on the occasion of the musical competition. Georgia won the right to host the competition after Mariam Mamadashvili won 2016 JESC in Malta.

First Channel of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) is working on a stage version of an entry song of Georgian participant at Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). Grigol Kipshidze, Georgian participant of 2017 JESC will perform the song by composer Giga Kukhianidze at the competition. The premiere of the song will be held in several days. The trial into case of three Georgian sailors detained in Libya was held without any prior notice on October 16. Family members of the detainees are asking for help from the government. They claim that the Georgian sailors have neither interpreter nor lawyer. Three Georgian sailors were detained in Libya, including the vessel's captain. A Turkish ship sailing under Tanzanian flag was detained by the Libyan Coast Guard on August 30. The ship was detained on charge of transporting smuggled cargo.

Heavy rain caused landslides in Adjara. Landslides occurred in the villages of Didadjara, Chao, Stepanashvilebi, Merchkheti and dekanashvilebi. The most difficult situation is in the village of Chao where the road to the village is blocked up. The employees of the Road Department are working on the spot to cut through the alternative way. The voting procedure in election of judicial candidate of Georgia for post of judge at Strasbourg Court is ongoing at the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE). The candidate, who collects more than 50% of votes, will be declared as the winner. In case of the second round of balloting, the candidate, who gains more votes, will win. The elected judge will begin performing of duties starting January, 2018. The winning candidate will take the post with 9-year term.The three candidates presented by Georgia qualified for the next stage of selection process. The judicial candidates of Georgia are: Lali Papiashvili, deputy chairperson of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Otar Sichinava, former judge of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and incumbent judge of the Court of Appeal, and Ambassador of Georgia to Germany Lado Chanturia. Chanturia is considered as the most qualified candidate for the post. Tea Tsulukiani, Georgian Justice Minister said that the list had overcome many barriers in Georgia. In case the winner is not revealed through the first round of voting, the second tour will be held on October 11.

Members of National Movement Party and European Georgia Party are protesting against handing over two land plots of Pushkin Square and Tabori Mount in Tbilisi to the construction company owned by former PM Bidzina Ivanishvili. The issue was considered and approved by the majority in Tbilisi Sakrebulo (City Assembly) earlier this afternoon. Oppositional members of city assembly left the sitting hall in protest. The opposition tried to intrude into the building. Law enforcers were mobilized outside the building. The police detained 2 protesters during the rally. Parliament to discuss draft-bill of 2018 state budget

The draft-bill of 2018 state budget will be discussed in the Georgian parliament. Based on the project, finances will be increased to Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and Ministry of Culture and Monuments Protection.
