Heavy rain caused landslides in Adjara. Landslides occurred in the villages of Didadjara, Chao, Stepanashvilebi, Merchkheti and dekanashvilebi. The most difficult situation is in the village of Chao where the road to the village is blocked up. The employees of the Road Department are working on the spot to cut through the alternative way.  Due to the heavy rain, electricity is not supplied to parts of of Khulo. Several kindergartens stopped working.

Weather will brighten up across Georgia tomorrow. According to Hydro-meteorological Forecast Service Svetlana Nioradze, rain and fog will be retained in some regions of eastern Georgia tonight, while it might be snowing in the highlands. From tomorrow, weather is expected to clear up across Georgia, including in Tbilisi. On October 7, the maximum air temperature in western Georgia will rise to 30 degrees; 25 degrees is in the forecast in eastern Georgia and 19 degrees in Tbilisi.

Several districts of Kobuleti resort flooded

Several districts of Kobuleti resort of Adjara region were flooded as a result of heavy rain. Officers of Emergency Situations Department worked in effort to pump out the water from ground floors of about 30 houses during the whole night. Locals of Gulauri settlement and Rustaveli and Javakhishvili Streets faced problems. Locals complained about improper drainage channels. Landslides hit several villages. The situation is stable in Kobuleti at present though it continues raining.

A strong earthquake has struck central Mexico, killing more than 200 people and toppling dozens of buildings in the capital, Mexico City, - BBC reported.President Enrique Peña Nieto said more than 20 children had died and 30 were missing after a school collapsed.The 7.1 magnitude quake also caused major damage in neighbouring states.The tremor struck shortly after many people had taken part in an earthquake drill, exactly 32 years after a quake killed thousands in Mexico City.The country is prone to earthquakes and earlier this month an 8.1 magnitude tremor in the south left at least 90 dead.Foreign leaders sent messages of support to Mexico as the scale of the disaster became clear.Source: BBC

Irma death toll in US rises to 10

Hurricane Irma was still wreaking havoc in South Carolina late Monday after causing at least 10 deaths in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.At least six people, including a sheriff's deputy, died of storm-related injuries in Florida as the massive hurricane barreled across the Sunshine State.One person was killed in Monroe County, which includes the Florida Keys. The man was killed after he lost control of a truck that carried a generator as winds whipped at tropical-storm strength, officials said.Two others, a sheriff's deputy and a corrections officer, died from a two-car crash in the rain in Hardee County, which is about 60 miles inland from Sarasota, officials said.In Winter Park, near Orlando, a man was electrocuted by a downed power line Monday morning, according to the Winter Park Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene after investigators found him lying in the street, police said.Another person died from carbon monoxide poisoning from improper use of a generator in Miami-Dade County, the mayor said.Another fatality was from a car crash in Orange County in central Florida.

Hurricane Irma is lashing Cuba with strong winds and heavy rain after devastating several Caribbean islands.The category five storm made landfall on the Camaguey Archipelago, off the north-eastern coast. But the Bahamas have largely been spared after Irma changed track.In Florida, 5.6 million people, or 25% of the US state's population, have been told to leave as the storm approaches. At least 20 people are known to have died so far across the Caribbean.Irma, which strengthened in the last few hours, hit the Camaguey Archipelago late on Friday, threatening nearby coastal towns and villages. This is the first time a category five hurricane has hit Cuba in decades, BBC reprorts.At 03:00 GMT on Saturday, Irma had maximum sustained winds of 257km/h (160mph), the National Hurricane Center in the US said.The eye of the storm was about 190km (120 miles) east-southeast of the Cuban fishing town of Caibarien.A hurricane warning is currently in effect in the provinces of Camaguey, Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara and Matanzas.Some communities have lost power, and communication is becoming increasingly difficult with towns in more remote areas, the BBC's Will Grant in Havana reports. Residents are hoping the storm will just glance the island before heading across the Florida Straits to Miami.

Firefighting works continue in Khulo

Firefighting works continue in Khulo, Adjara region. Emergency headquarters has resumed activities since 6 AM. About 500 firefighters and rescuers are involved in extinguishing efforts. Two helicopters are present in Khulo. According to Archil Chikovani, Head of Adjara Roads Department, firefighters and rescuers will be inspecting the fire-hit territory during the next 3-4 days.

The fire in Artana village, eastern Kakheti region has broken out again. Dense smoke is arising from several destinations. Helicopters are undergoing through inspection and will become engaged in fire-localization efforts. Two Iranian helicopters are expected to arrive in the region.Firefighting works continued in Kakheti region during 7 days. The emergency headquarters presumes to have extinguished fire destinations in Tusheti forest by the end of today.
