Sanctions to be tightened regarding violence expressed during pre-election period


Parliament is discussing the issue of tightening sanctions regarding violence expressed during pre-election period.

The draft bill will be considered at a joint session of Human Rights and Legal Issues committees.

According to the amendments, violence and violent threats during the election campaign, in the polling station or nearby territories will be punished by Criminal Code of Georgia. Offender will face fine or imprisonment up to 2 years.
