Three people charged for illegal wiretapping sentenced to imprisonment

Three people charged for illegal wiretapping of Georgian Dream leaders’ private conversations have been sentenced to imprisonment. Vazha Leluashvili has been sentenced to three years, Levan Kardava and Shota Khizanishvili – a year and a half in jail.

The case discussion was over on June 24 in Tbilisi City Court. Those accused gave final speeches.

Former Interior Ministry officials Shota Khizanishvili, Levan Kardava and Vazha Leluashvili were faced charges of abuse of power, illegal wiretapping of former opposition leaders by means of computer virus and pressure on Bidzina Ivanishvili’s security service employee Besik Surmava.

The case refers to publishing Georgian Dream leaders’ conversations before the 2012 elections.
