Differences of opinions on Eva Gotsiridze’s candidacy

Eva Gotsiridze has been nominated as one of the candidate judges that are to be selected at Strasbourg Court.  She will replace Nana Mchedlidze in the candidate’s list.

According to Minister of Justice, experts of Council of Europe gave a negative recommendation to Nana Mchedlidze’s candidacy.

The fact was followed by differences of opinions. The part of the members of selective committee stated that Gotsiridze was not among 3 candidates proposed by them; therefore it’s unclear how she was nominated.

NGO sector considers the arguments of the Minister of Justice as unfounded.
