Constitutional Commission does not back alternative version of NGOs

Ana Natsvlishvili, Chairperson of Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) says that State Constitutional Commission did not back the alternative version about election system prepared by non-governmental organizations.

“The ruling team put down the version without presenting any argument or holding a debate,” Natsvlishvili said.

The project about changes to be made into Constitution prepared by State Constitutional Commission is adopted with 43 votes for, and 8 – against.

The adopted document will be sent to Venice Commission, an advisory body of Council of Europe for consideration and will be presented for public discussions to the Georgian citizens next week.
