Venice Commission acknowledges progress made by Parliament - Irakli Kobakhidze

The Venice Commission acknowledges the progress made by the Parliament of Georgia with regard to the constitutional reform, - Chairman of Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze said when assessing the final opinion of the Venice Commission on constitutional amendments.

According to Kobakhidze, the final opinion is almost entirely consistent with the document received by the Parliament before adopting the final document.

"The Venice Commission ultimately approved its final opinion on the constitutional amendments. The opinion is positive,” Kobakhidze said.

According to him, the document is absolutely positive and acknowledges the great progress that has been achieved by the Georgian Parliament with regard to the constitutional reform.

"In addition, a number of statements have been made today by the President of the Venice Commission, as well as the experts who wrote the opinion on the constitutional reform, and they highly positively assessed the changes in the constitution. They pointed out that these changes will ensure irreversible continuation of Georgia's democratic development," Kobakhidze said.
