The news program "Moambe" will be aired in a new schedule and format from November 6.Viewers will have opportunity to watch "Moambe" five times per day - at 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00.Moambe team will provide the audience with high-quality, reliable and variable information, in accordance with the standard, during 15 and 30-minutes-program.The main summarizing newscast “Moambe" at 21:00” represents evening news program, providing top news as well as important, up-to-date and well-processed reportages.

Tbilisi City Court imposed Rustavi 2 TV Company covering of financial liabilities to Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB). Judge Levan Mikaberidze partially satisfied the lawsuit of GPB. Rustavi 2 will have to pay liabilities as per various contracts signed at different times. The rate of penalty for breaching the contract has been reduced based on the court decision. 

Selection of participants for “Are You Smarter Than A 6th Grader?” a new project of First Channel is ongoing at Educational Resource Center in Zugdidi town of western Samegrelo region. More than 300 six-graders from different districts of Samegrelo underwent registration. The selection tour already took places in Kutaisi, Ozurgeti and Batumi. The next tour will take place in Mestia on October 28.  “Are You Smarter Than A 6th Grader?” is the project of Metro Goldwyn Mayer American Company which has already been carried out in 55 countries of the world and has gained popularity everywhere. 

First Channel will broadcast 2019 Rugby World Cup – Board of Trustees made the decision to sign the contract on purchasing the right for broadcasting. Vasil Maghlaperidze, General Director of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) congratulated the Georgian sports fans on this occasion. “Rugby is national sports kind for Georgians at certain extent. This will be a celebration for fans,” Maghlaperidze said. The contract between GPB and RUGBY WORLD CUP LIMITED will be signed in the nearest future. The 2019 Rugby World Cup will be held from September 20 to November 2 of 2019 in Japan.

A memorandum was signed between First Channel and Academy of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). The memorandum envisages exchange of information between the sides. Based on the document, MIA gives First Channel the right to access the material preserved in the archive, while the broadcaster is obliged to name the Archive of MIA as the source when preparing TV, radio and online products. Givi Mikanadze, Rector of MIA Academy organized a tour around the Archive preserve for Vasil Maghlaperidze, General Director of Georgian Public Broadcaster. 

First Channel of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) is working on a stage version of an entry song of Georgian participant at Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). Grigol Kipshidze, Georgian participant of 2017 JESC will perform the song by composer Giga Kukhianidze at the competition. The premiere of the song will be held in several days. Georgia is hosting the 15th JESC this year after having won the competition three times. Tbilisi Olympic Palace will host the 15th JESC on November 26. Young singers from 16 European countries will arrive in Tbilisi on the occasion of the musical competition. Georgia won the right to host the competition after Mariam Mamadashvili won 2016 JESC in Malta. 

“Today is a historic day because selection of an architecture design of First Channel’s new building gave birth to a big process rather than ended something in the broadcaster’s life,” Vasil Maghlaperidze, General Director of First Channel said. According to Maghlaperidze, First Channel will have had the new building within 3-year term and the premises will meet modern standards. TV audience was given the opportunity to vote for its favorite design. About 30 thousand people took part in the voting process through the web-page.

The projects will be selected by the Directors of Georgian Film Production Selection and Monitoring Service and Media Production.The best projects’ authors will be interviewed before the final decision.

Georgian Public Broadcaster responds to the allegations voiced by Kakha Kukava, the Tbilisi Mayor candidate of the political bloc Democratic Movement Free Georgia.The Public Broadcaster rejects to place one of the pre-election advertisements of political bloc in its airtime as Broadcaster believes that it contains elements of commercial ad.Tbilisi Mayor Candidate accuses the Broadcaster of making a politically motivated decision.The political bloc Democratic Movement Free Georgia has already addressed to the National Communications Commission with the request to consider the issue and expects a reply for the end of the week.

The parliamentary Budget and Finance Committee has supported the legislative changes to the Law on Broadcasting, taking its remarks into account, through the first hearing. The session was held today.According to Chairman of the Committee Irakli Kovzanadze, the Budget and Finance Committee has same remarks regarding the project. He says that the organization's activities should be remained within the scope of Budget Code.The presented project of amendments envisages separation of authorities and duties of General Director of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) and Board of Trustees. Changes also refer to commercial advertising and sponsorship. According to the initiative, sponsorship of entertainment programs, international competitions, festivals and TV series are allowed.Amendments apply to purchasing as well. According to the existing regulations, the broadcaster carries out all types of purchases in accordance with the law on state procurement; according to the initiated amendments, the regulations should not apply to the purchasing of products such as programs, feature and documentary films.

Georgia’s representative of 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) will become known on September 8. The special jury will reveal the participant. Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) announced the national competition for selection of 2017 JESC contender on July 17. Children aged 9-14 could apply with the song from their own repertoire. Open hearing of contenders will take place at pavilion of First Channel. The jury includes producer Zaza Shengelia, singer Maia Baratashvili, musician Davit Evgenidze, from GPB - musical editor - Eliso Shengelia and voice director - Giorgi Asanishvili. A new song will be composed for Georgian contender of 2017. Georgia is hosting 2017 JESC. The contest will be held on November 26 at Tbilisi Olympic Palace. 

The lawmakers are discussing changes to be made into Law on Broadcasting at the sitting of the parliamentary Committee of Branch Economy and Economic Policy. The meeting is being held behind closed door. Roman Kakulia, Chairman of the committee is meeting with representatives of non-governmental sector and private television stations. The project worked out by Public Broadcaster envisages separation of authorities of General Director and Board of Trustees. Changes also refer to advertising and sponsorship issues and part of purchasing. Kakulia met with management of First Channel last week. 

First Channel is announcing a competition for selection of a presenter for 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). An architecture competition has been announced for construction of the new building of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) and GPB’s third block. Receipt of applications will last till noon of September 25. Newsroom and 4 TV Pavilions will be located in the premises of the new building; 3-storey parking lot will be arranged. 

Members of the Republican Party and Free Democrats addressed to the Public Broadcaster with a letter concerning to airing the Public Service Announcement.Members of the parties point out that the Announcement is about constitutional amendments and considering the fact that Broadcaster has already put the similar Public Service Announcement in its air, they expect that their application will be satisfied. The Public Broadcaster will review the letter and the presented materials and make a decision in accordance with the law.
