Two family medical centers will additionally serve patients having virus symptoms in Tbilisi starting today. One clinic is located at Gamrekeli Street and the other - at Moscow Square. Based on the date of National Diseases Control Center, there are 332 cases of H1N1 virus detected among every 100 thousand people. The Center recommends the population to apply to medical institutions as soon as the virus symptoms are revealed. 

The number of patients infected with H1N1 virus has decreased at medical institutions. The doctor on duty at Republican Hospital says that there are 4 patients placed at hospital. About 500 patients underwent medical treatment during the winter season. Doctors recommend the population to apply to medical institutions as soon as the virus symptoms are detected. 

A 4-month-old infant died of Meningococcemia in Adjara region. Presumably grave health condition and delayed medical treatment are named as  reasons of deceased.The National Center of Disease Control claims that there is no ground for panic. Medical experts are recommending patients for being alert and careful, and turn to medical institutions on a timely manner as soon as first symptoms of deceasedare revealed.

A survey “What Do you complain about?” is being conducted with purpose to determine medical needs of the population. The social initiative is carried out by Healthcare Ministry together with Glocal Alliance international coalition.The population will be answering questions of Health Ministry during one month starting January 25 through a special questionnaire.

Only one case of H1N1 virus among children has been detected for the time being at kindergartens. Preventive measures are undertaken. Study rooms are disinfected with special liquid. Recommendations are given to teachers are parents.

In both cases virus developed in the light of other chronic diseases. The laboratory confirmed cases of H1N1 virus has been increased in Georgia as well. The H1N1 virus has claimed another life in Georgia. It happened at Zugdidi hospital, Samegrelo region.  The deceased is a middle-aged woman. She arrived in Zugdidi from Abkhazia. The number of patients with seasonal virus complications has increased at Gori Hospital of Infectious Diseases. There are 35 children placed at “Iavnana Medi” center. The patients complain about high body temperature and coughing. Doctors recommend the population to apply to medical institutions in case of virus infection symptoms.

One patient has died of H1N1 virus in Georgia. 29 year old man was transferred to Tbilisi from Western Georgia. The patient was delivered to the hospital with aggrieved condition. Doctors failed to save his life.  The National center for Disease Control expects the seasonal growth of the virus in February. Medical specialists claim that there are no grounds for pandemic in the country. 

Universal health care will be one of the priorities of the government this year as well. According to Davit Sergeenko along with the cost increases, controls on medicines will be enhanced and prices will be reduced, which will be aimed at improvement of universal health care quality.

Soldiers of the 4th Mechanized Brigade of the Georgian Armed Forces are taking Hepatitis C examination free of charge. If needed, the soldiers will undergo medication. Examination is being held at a specially arranged laboratory.  

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and Healthcare Minister Davit Sergeenko jointly briefed about introduction of a new medicine Harvoni, a Hepatitis C Drug from Gilead in Hepatitis C Elimination program starting 2016. About 20 thousand patients will be treated with the new medicine every year. According to Gharibashvili, the first stage of the program deserved positive evaluation from various international organizations, and it will continue next year involving more people. “Georgia proved to be an example in practicing the program,” PM said.Treatment of one patient with Harvoni medicine costs USD 80-100 thousand. Georgian patients will be treated free-of charge through the state program.
