Russia to chair UN Security Council during a month

Russia has taken its turn in the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council. 

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vitaly Churkin took over the rotating presidency of the UNSC (the Security Council of the United Nations) from the permanent representative of Nigeria on Tuesday.

Russia will chair  the UNSC during a month.

Georgia's Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashivli claims that he does not see any special threats in election of Russia as a chair country of the UN Security Council. 

“I would not credit this event with too much importance. Apart from Russia, decisions are made by 14 more countries and therefore, I don’t think that we should expect any extraordinary things” Kvirikashvili said.
