Law Committee not fully supporting de-criminalization of Marijuana

Publish Time 2015-09-29 15:13:00 Update Time 2015-09-29 16:28:00

The Georgian parliamentary Law Committee does not support full de-criminalization of use of Marijuana but shares the standpoint that imprisonment should not be a measure of sanction.

The legislative project of minority MP Goga Khachidze was discussed at the committee sitting today and was approved with the first hearing.

The fine will be imposed for use of Marijuana and the person will have to do social work. The Human Rights Committee also backed the initiative based on the same principle.
