Georgia may abolish visa regime with Iran

At Georgia's initiative, a phone conversation was held between the Prime Minister of Georgia and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

According to the press office of the governmental administration, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Hassan Rouhani talked about close cultural relations between the Iranian and Georgian peoples.

"They expressed their hope to strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism. It was noted that the Georgian side will take concrete steps in this direction, which will be reflected in the abolition of visa regime with Iran", the press office reported.

Trade and economic relations, as well as the great potential of the two countries were also discussed at the meeting.

The Prime Minister of Georgia congratulated the President of Iran on the decision of the United States and the EU to lift sanctions. The two sides also discussed the current situation in the region and emphasized the importance of international security.
