Joint press conference of Georgian and German Foreign Ministers

Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier held a joint press conference. 

Before that the sides held a meeting. There are no doubts that Georgia will get visa liberalization; the only question is when the country will get it, - German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said at a briefing after meeting Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze. 

According to him, the process that is defined by the EU agenda will presumably be completed in the "upcoming weeks".

"Of course, I know that in Georgia there is a great expectation for visa liberalization. I want to clearly say that in this very long process Georgia has made great strides forward. I said and I repeat once again that there are no doubts that Georgia will get visa liberalization; the only question is when it will get it? "- said the German Minister.

He also stressed that it is necessary to take preventive measures, which include visa-free regime suspension mechanism.

Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Georgia for a working visit today.

During the visit, the German Foreign Minister will meet with President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili.

He will also take part in the opening of the annual OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session.
