Giorgi Abashishvili: another threat has been added to the threats that have existed against the President up to now

Giorgi Abashishvili, Head of the Presidential Administration, has responded to the statement made by the Speaker of Parliament. 

"We announced as early as on December 12 of the last year that we would provide wide discussions on constitutional issues. As for this particular issue, we can say that another threat has been added to the threats that have existed against the President up to now - a ban on discussing constitutional issues with people”, said Abashishvili.

According to Kobakhidze, the President showed disrespect towards the Parliament by launching meetings with representatives of various sectors of the society from March 10, the day of parliamentary plenary session. 

"We call on the President to put aside his narrow political interests and respect the constitutional institutions, not to create artificial obstacles to the Constitutional Commission and act in accordance with the Constitution and legislation" - Irakli Kobakhidze made the regarding statement. 

Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili will begin public discussions about changes proposed to be made into Constitution. President will meet with members of Constitutional Commission and representatives of public on March 10. Representatives of Diplomatic Corps, students and constitutionalists will attend the meeting.
