One Year after Belgium's Worst Terror Attack

One year passed after terrorist attack at Brussels Zaventem airport. Ketevan Kardava, reporter of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) was caught up in what is believed the worst terrorist attack in Belgium’s history. She took first photos, which were later distributed in international media. 

On Wednesday, differences will likely be set aside for ceremonies that are planned at the airport, at Maalbeek metro station, and in the heart of the E.U. district, where the Belgian King and Queen will unveil a memorial. Brussels, meanwhile, has largely returned to normal. The threat level remains 3 on a scale of 4, and the army is still deployed on the streets. But like in so many other European cities, people have simply learned to live with it.

A year on, many victims are also still struggling. The Belgian government has counted 900 victims in total, encompassing those affected by physical or psychological trauma.
