Russian Federation’s President Vladimir Putin offers condolences to the families of those killed in St. Petersburg subway explosion.
At least 10 people died in a blast in St. Petersburg subway. Interfax and RIA news agencies said two blasts have been reported on the Russian city's Metro. An unknown explosive device was activated based on preliminary information.
Three stations have been closed, according to local media outlet Fontanka. The Tass news agency said that 10 have been killed according to "preliminary information" but other reports said several have been injured.
Interfax claimed that at least one of the devices was filled with shrapnel, according to a source. A Reuters witness said they saw eight ambulances near the Sennaya Ploshchad station and footage broadcast on local TV showed activity by the authorities outside the station entrance.
