The 2016 annual report of State Security Service has been presented to the parliament for consideration. The document outlines main challenges facing the country including the current situation across occupied regions, intelligence activities and terrorism.

In 2016 the State Security service revealed a number of persons having links with terrorist activities, - the State Security Service's annual report says.

"Georgia does not belong to a group of high-risk countries, but there are some challenges in this direction. The Islamic State and other extremist groups gained some supporters in certain regions. Radical ideologists try to use religious beliefs of some groups and low awareness in their interests", - the report says.

The document says that the Security Service took a series of measures aimed at identifying persons related to terrorist organizations in Georgia.
