Council of Europe to discuss Secretary General’s report on conflicts of Georgia

Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland’s 15th consolidated report Conflicts in Georgia will be discussed at the 1284th session the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. 

According to Georgian Foreign Ministry, the report covers the period from October 2016 through March 2017. In the report the Secretary-General draws attention to the difficult situation in the occupied territories in terms of security, human rights and humanitarian situation, as well as the difficult situation in Abkhazia after the ban on the Georgian language as an education language and other issues.

During the presentation of the consolidated report, the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers will be addressed by the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, Davit Zalkaliani. In his speech, he will focus on the human rights situation in the occupied territories and the recent illegal actions of the Russian occupation forces.
