Georgia's government members responded to the decision of CoE Committee of Ministers Deputies

Publish Time 2017-05-04 16:05:00

The Georgia’s government has responded to the decision of the  Committee of Ministers Deputies of Council of Europe today.

The members of Cabinet of Ministers are considering the document as a significant support, particularly In terms of determining the status of the occupied territories.

The Russia's responsibility for the occupation of Georgian territories is clearly fixed in the document, which is considered by Ministers as a strong argument on the international arena.

The current situation in the occupied territories is discussed in 9 point document, where Russia is identified as a conflict side for the first time.  Also, the document highlights that Russia’s illegal actions prevent Georgia from exercising legitimate jurisdiction over its regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region.

The Committee stated that Russian politics impedes peaceful conflict resolution and stability in the region.
