Petro Poroshenko signed the decree on deprivation of citizenship of Ukraine to Mikheil Saakashvili

Ukrainian Presidential Administration officially deprived Mikheil Saakashvili of citizenship and explained the reason.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko deprived Mikheil Saakashvili of citizenship on the basis of the recommendation of the commission working on citizenship issues. “The State Immigration Service presented verified facts to the Commission, according to which, wrong information was provided during filing in citizenship application”, says Administration.  Based on the Commission’s recommendation, Poroshenko signed the relevant decree. 

Mikheil Saakashvili's political party Movement of New Forces is holding a rally on Kiev’s Maidan. The members of Movement of New Forces see political motives in deprivation of citizenship of Ukraine to former head of Odessa OGA.

In parallel, Saakashvili's lawyers begin legal procedures.
