It is not yet officially reported what caused severe intoxication among the youngsters. Based on unofficial information, consumption of psychotropic substance became the reason. Organizers of the festival claim that selling and bringing of drugs on the festival’s territory is prohibited. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs arrived in Anaklia resort to become introduced with the situation. The health condition of youngsters hospitalized from GEM Fest and placed at Zugdidi Referral Hospital, is satisfactory. They have already been discharged from hospital. One young woman aged 22 has died. The patients were brought to hospital with intoxication from an unknown substance. Officers of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) arrested D.N. and S.Z. in the village of Ganmukhuri, Zugdidi, for drug crime. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcers seized 38 pills of the so-called ecstasy and 6547 grams of MD during the personal search of the detainees. Both defendants have pleaded guilty. The investigation is underway on the fact of illegal purchase and possession of drugs.
