Dutch sommeliers visited Georgia

A group of Dutch sommeliers has visited Georgia. During the tour the guests have visited wine companies and cellars in Tbilisi, Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti.

The best Dutch sommelier of the year, Niels Van Overmeire said that several companies have already been exporting Georgian wine to Netherlands, but the potential is bigger.

"I think Georgian wines have a great future. Georgians should continue producing wine. There are different styles of wines, small and large enterprises. The most important thing is that cleanliness is kept in the cellar, the wine makers are working to produce fresh high quality wine," - he said.

In 2017, Georgia’s National Wine Agency signed contract with wine importer company "Saperavi Wine Agency", which imports Georgian wine and implements various activities to increase the awareness of Georgian wine in the Netherlands.  Georgian wine tasting was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, which was attended by local sommeliers, journalists and wine writers in July, 2017. The event was organized by Saperavi Wine Agency.
