The damage inflicted to the seaside city of Batumi in Adjara region as a result of non-stop rain is being calculated. Cleaning and pumping efforts are ongoing in Batumi. Special services are working in emergency regime. A special headquarters is established at Batumi City Hall. About 300 calls were made to the Batumi 112 emergency service last night. 

Hailstorm and strong wind damaged vineyards, orchards and agricultural plots in Kvareli, Lagodekhi and Akhmeta districts of eastern Kakheti region. Locals are left without harvest in 20 villages. Damage inflicted to the region is being calculated. Most of the families, which became victims of natural disaster, did not have their property insured. The issue of compensation for such category of families remains questionable. Heavy rain began starting 10 PM. Then the strong wind followed, which unroofed houses. Ground floors are flooded in Giorgeti and Bokvi villages. Supply of electricity and natural gas is suspended to locals. Landslide hit Mtatusheti road. Cleaning works were ongoing during the whole night. Representatives of Emergency Situations Service are present in the disaster-hit zone. Twelve groups from Tbilisi arrived in Kakheti. Otar Danelia, Georgian Minister of Agriculture arrived in natural disaster-hit eastern Kakheti region of Georgia. Danelia met with locals and inspected the vineyards destroyed by the hailstorm of August 20 in Kvareli, Lagodekhi and Akhmeta districts. 

Meteorologists inform that brief showers are in the forecast for most Georgian regions on August 17. As  Monitoring and forecast Center reports on August 17, there will be rain in most of western and several regions of eastern Georgia.No rain is in the forecast for Tbilisi. Powerful Typhoon Soudelor is battering Taiwan with strong winds and heavy rain, leaving at least four people dead.The storm - with winds of more than 230km/h (142mph) - made landfall on the eastern coast early on Saturday and is now moving across the island, BBC reports.It is ripping up trees and tearing down billboards, and triggered a landslide in at least one village. About two million households have been left without electricity.Rail services and flights have been cancelled and all schools and offices closed. Taiwan's weather bureau says the typhoon is moving north-west, gradually losing its strength. Among the victims were an eight-year-old girl and her mother who were swept out to sea. "I've never seen such a powerful typhoon in my 60 years," one resident in the eastern Taitung county told Taiwan's Formosa TV.Ahead of Soudelour's arrival, the authorities evacuated thousands of people from their homes. The storm is later expected to move into the Taiwan Strait and on to mainland China.

A 3.4 -magnitude earthquake has hit Georgia today.According to the Seismic Monitoring Center, the tremors were fixed near the Vardzia Monastery complex.According to preliminary information, the earthquake did not inflict serious damage to the monument.

The non-governmental organization, which follows the process of compensation of victims of the June 13 deadly flooding in Tbilisi published results of the monitoring about conditions in which the families currently live. The third sector evaluates the amount of rendered assistance as satisfactory. There are some faults about provision of living spaces with renting. 

Stuart Harrison, an invited expert of the British Council and Consultant of Crisis, Risks and Security became introduced with the results of June 13 deadly flooding in Tbilisi. The expert visited Svanidze Street, Tskneti Street, River Vere Gorge, Mziuri park and Tbilisi Zoo territories today and inspected ongoing claning and restoration works.  

A corpse of a tiger has been found in the Laguna Vere swimming pool area. The tiger had been considered missing since the 13 June disaster when animals escaped from the flooded zoo. Another escaped tiger claimed a life of one person a few weeks ago. 

Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) warns Tbilisi residents that starting midnight the water level of River Mtkvari will rise.The search operation of 3 persons missing after June 13 deadly flooding in Tbilisi continues, and the rescuers will begin studying of river bottom. Water reserves of “Ortachala” Hydro Electric Power Station will be released that will cause slight overflow of the river. The MIA also calls on citizens to abstain from fishing at the territories of Rustavi, Gardabani, Marneuli towns and in case of need contact Emergency Situations Service “112.” The Azerbaijani side is involved in search works.  

Green zone will be arranged across the Vere River Gorge, which was hit by June 13 deadly flooding in Tbilisi. The zone will comprise Tbilisi Zoo, Mziuri Park and new highway territories where cleaning works still continue. Davit Narmania, Tbilisi Mayor said that he had not been introduced to “Tbilisi Manhattan” Project yet. However, he said the project would be discussed by a special council. One part of the public is against implementation of the project.

Heavy rain which started in the morning in Sochi resort of Russia has caused flooding in some streets.The Central and Adler districts are usually hit by bad weather: water has accumulated on the roads, sidewalks and adjacent territories.According to weather forecasts, the rain will continue until tomorrow morning, which is why there is a possibility of the water level in the rivers rising, Vestnik Kavkaza reports.

Rescuers continue to search for the bodies of three missing after the June 13 disaster in the Mtkvari River. A team of  rescuers is involved in the search operation now stretching from Tbilisi to Rustavi. Search efforts are also underway in the Kvemo Kartli region. Special purpose vehicles are involved in the process.Georgian side has asked for help to Baku. Azeri rescuers will also be involved in works to find missing people on the Azerbaijan territory.

The works in elimination of damage of June 13 deadly flooding in natural disaster hit zones continue and will presumably take 1 week.  Heavy vehicles are working in River Vere Gorge, Mziuri Park and Tbilisi Zoo to clean the territories from debris.  Carrion of a stripped hyena, lost from the zoo, has been found while carrying out of cleaning works in the zoo. The death toll remains to be 19, while 3 people still remain missing. One missing tiger is still being searched.

Georgian Water and Power Company has released a special statement on the damage inflicted to a sewage pipeline in the June 13 flooding. According to the statement, the company made a decision to install a temporary, miniature purification device that will prevent sewage from entering the Vere River. The decision follows reports from responsible agencies that predict reconstruction of the road and repair of the sewage system will take 30 days.The original sewage collector will be fully restored once the cleanup efforts are completed. Earlier today, Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania confirmed that a sewage pipeline was damaged by the flood and led to contamination of the Vere River.

The plenary sitting in the parliament is being held under the background of harsh statements and counter-accusations. Causes of June 13 deadly flooding in Tbilisi became the reason of confrontation between the majority and opposition. The debates were held about how correctly the construction of a new highway connecting Tamarashvili Street and Heroes Square had been planned and who was responsible for the devastating results of natural disaster.  

It will be raining during the next 6 days across Georgia. Georgian weather forecasters claim that weather conditions will turn to the worse starting this evening.Starting today including June 28, it will be raining both in east and west Georgia; hailstorm is expected in some regions. Air temperature will be 23-28 degrees by Celsius scale in western Georgia, 29-34 – in east Georgia. 

How a new Vake-Saburtalo highway was built and whether or not all security norms were protected during the construction. New details were revealed  as a result of the investigation, which was launched after deadly flood that hit Tbilisi on June 13.The regarding documentations has been already sent from Tbilisi City Hall to the Prosecutor’s Office. However one issue remains disputable - Whether or not the Tbilisi City Hall had the permission of geologists for beginning the construction of Vake-Saburtalo highway. The relevant permission cannot be found in the archive of Tbilisi Architecture department.However, the absence of the document can be linked with one circumstance – the works was marked as rehabilitation in the document, which required less permits for that time.

Whether or not the Tbilisi City Hall had permission of geologists for beginning the construction of Vake-Saburtalo highway – the document is not stored in the 2009 archives of the City Hall.According to Tbilisi Architecture department the Prosecutor's Office requested regarding documents, which shows that 3 projects took part in the tender, which was conducted 6 years ago.The differences were  in pricing and planning. The rest of two projects envisaged constructing road standing on the bridge constructions in the Vere Gorge and cost twice more as much as the tender-winner project.
