Volunteers will not need to works on restoration works in elimination of damage of June 13 deadly flooding in the risk zones from today. The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili made the regarding statement at the session of State Security and Crisis Management Council.Although debris is not fully removed and some animals and people still remain missing, representatives of state institutions will replace volunteers in cleaning efforts. Prime Minister says that due to security norms volunteers will work only in less risky areas. He once again expressed gratitude toward the youngsters for the implemented works.

Duruji – Another threatening river and landslide-risk zone

After the June 13 deadly flooding in Tbilisi, environment protection specialists are actively speaking about different regions of Georgia and landslide-risk zones which pose a threat to the population.Duruji River Gorge in eastern Kakheti region is among such territories where the bullying of the river may cause and lead to a similar tragedy and the population can come face to face with the serious threat. According to http://humanrights.ge, On June 15, a group of geologist from National Environment Agency with the local government visited Duruji valley by a helicopter. As a geologist, Niko Salouri told to humanrights.ge, landslide process on the source of river Duruji has already been started. There is new erosion on the rocky cliff and it has such a big slope that does not stop. It comes down on the plateau, falls into pieces and follows the water. There are fragments, clefts, the river is not blocked for now, but in the case of rain it might be dangerous. Landslide may become active, huge masses may come down and become a threat for the population.

Heavy vehicles have been moved out from Givi Svanidze Street where intensive restoration works are undergoing after the territory was hit by June 13 deadly flooding. There may also be hail. Gvazava informs that hail is expected in mountainous regions of western Georgia and lowlands in the eastern part of the country. Temperatures in western Georgia will be 25-30 degrees Celsius, and 25 degrees in mountainous areas. 31-36 degrees is expected in eastern Georgia.

Several streets and part of refugee settlement flooded in Gori

One tiger and a stripped hyena still remain missing from Tbilisi Zoo after June 13 deadly flooding in Tbilisi. The special units are working in emergency regime. The hunters have been involved in the search operation. Special Services operatives and hunters conducted searching operations with the aim to find tiger and hyena near Ethnographic Museum today, however they have failed to track down the escaped zoo animals Dozens of calls about predatory animals were implemented to 112 during the whole day-night from different parts of the city, all of them turned out to be false.

The death toll of June 13 natural disaster in River Vere Gorge in Tbilisi has reached 19, while 3 people have remained missing for the time being. The body found today in the Tbilisi Zoo territory has been already identified. It has been confirmed that the corpse belongs to 26-year-old Liza Zarandia.  Indira and Liza Zarandia were in a taxi together with their friend Sergo Kapanadze when the flood hit Tbilisi. Indira Zarandia’s body was found two days ago at Mziuri Park. Sergo Kapanadze remains missing.Cleaning work still continues in disaster hit zone.

It was found by servicemen involved in cleaning works. Some witnesses presume that the corpse belongs to 26 years old Lisa Zarandia.Lisa Zarandia has been reported as missing. She along with her sister and friend was driving with a taxi in the disaster zone on the night of June 13. The dead body of her sister - Indira Zarandia was found in Mziuri Park two days ago.

Head of Italian Geological Service to help study what caused June 13 disaster

Head of the Italian Geological Service Claudio Margottini will get involved in the study to determine what caused the Tbilisi disaster, - announced Culture Minister Mikheil Giorgadze. According to him, Claudio Margottini was brought to Georgia by the Cultural Heritage Protection agency and is a leading specialist in this field."We asked him to provide consultations to City Hall and specialists from the Ministry of Environmental Protection. Together they will explore the Vere Gorge and then go to Betania. Mr. Margottini will give us recommendations. I do not rule out his continued involvement in the processes and submission of a final report,”- said Mikheil Giorgadze.As Claudio Margottini said after initial examinations, the situation is very unusual. "These processes and tragic events brought together several natural disasters in a very unusual phenomenon. On the one hand, there was a very large flow of water, and on the other hand, there was a landslide, and together they destroyed the area. The situation is severe and unusual. We will do our best to develop recommendations to prevent a similar disaster in the future,”- said Claudio Margottini.

The death toll of June 13 natural disaster in River Vere Gorge in Tbilisi has reached 19, while 6 people have remained missing for the time being. Another corpse, which is not identified yet, has been discovered in Mziuri Park earlier this afternoon. The dead body was covered by debris. It was found by volunteers involved in cleaning works. Earlier, the dead body of 25-year-old Ivlita Jibuti was found. She was swept away by the river together with her friend.

Search efforts and cleaning works launched in elimination of damages of June 13 natural disaster in Tbilisi are temporarily suspended. The State Security and Crisis Management Council made the corresponding decision due to possible worsening of weather conditions in Tbilisi.All special vehicles and people are withdrawn from the threat-zones. Locals, volunteers and rescuers have left Svanidze Street, Heroes Square, Mziuri Park and Tbilisi Zoo territories. Earlier, State Security and Crisis Management Council called on the population to refrain from movement about the territory of Heroes Square and Tamarashvili Street. Rain and strong wind began starting 17:00 in Tbilisi. Precipitation is expected the next days as well. The government says that there is no ground for panic and that the situation is under control.

Bagebi district locals asking for help

Locals fear and the natural calamity and flooding of River Vere Gorge may repeat and are asking for help.  Mindia Janelidze, Secretary of State Security and Crisis Management Council claims that the plan how to discharge the situation is already elaborated and the works will begin sometime during the day.
