Georgia to host 2017 JESC - Decision of EBU

Georgia will host Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) in 2017. The decision was made by European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Georgia will host JESC for the first time.  The location of the competition and funds to be allocated for its organization will become known at the end of February. 

A press conference about the news was held at press center of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB). Giorgi Chogovadze, Head of Tourism Administration, Ketevan Bochorishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tinatin Berdzenishvili, Head of Media and Communications Bloc of GPB and Sergi Gvarjaladze, Head of Junior Eurovision Project attended the conference.

JESC will be held for the 15th time in 2017. Georgia will present its participant for the 11th time. Georgia won 2016 JESC and became the winner for the third time. Mariam Mamadashvili won the contest with the song “Sun.”  She collected 239 points. JESC 2016 was held in Malta.
