Eleven candidates for post of judges at Strasbourg Court interviewed

The special commission interviewed 11 candidates competing for post of a judge at Strasbourg Court.

Members of the governmental commission have to select 5 candidates out of 23 applicants. The 3 candidates will be presented to the European Council’s Parliamentary Assembly by the government. Finally, one candidate will be selected with 10-year term.

Giorgi Papuashvili, former Chairman of Constitutional Court refused participation in the competition in protest. The post has remained vacant for several months.

The first competition was held last year but none of the candidates among Giorgi Badashvili, Eva Gotsiridze and Aleksandre Baramidze has been approved on the post.
