The parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee is considering changes to be made into Law on Broadcasting. Initiation of the project is planned for this week.

Based on the project, authorities and duties of Board of Trustees and General Director of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) will be separated. Changes will apply to purchasing. The law will not apply to purchase of TV-series and non-thematic production.

Changes will also refer to commercial advertising and sponsorship. Reportedly, the proposed changes are welcomed by European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Non-governmental organizations are attending the discussions.
