James Appathurai, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia released a statement about Georgian parliamentary elections held on October 8. “I congratulate the people of Georgia on the conduct of the parliamentary elections on 8 October. International observers have assessed that the vote was competitive, well-administered and generally respected fundamental freedoms. I regret that some incidents of violence took place during the election campaign. I trust that the various complaints which have been launched will be fully assessed by the competent bodies in Georgia. I look forward to working with the new Parliament and Government, once established, to further deepen NATO’s relationship with Georgia,” reads the statement. Add Your Comment below
