Court imposes preliminary imprisonment to Georgian sportsman detained in US

Avtandil Khurtsidze, Georgian sportsman, professional boxer who currently holds the interim WBO middleweight title, detained in the US, has been imposed to 2-month preliminary imprisonment by the court. 

The sportsman posted the information on his Facebook page. Family members of Khurtsidze claim that nobody has contacted the sportsman and they do not know who will be his lawyer during discussion of his case. 

According to the information obtained by “Moambe” News Program of First Channel, Khurtsidze refused to be defended by state attorney. 

Georgian sportsmen Avtandil Khurtsidze and Levan Makashvili are suspected of having links with crime world together with other 33 persons. 

Representatives of the Georgian consulate in New York are waiting for completion of technical procedures. They then plan to meet with the detainee.
