The Chief Prosecutor’s Office launched investigation into allegations of police abuse of authority into Birja Mafia case.

According to prosecutor’s office it launched the investigation based on the testimonies of Mgaloblishvili and Keburia, under the clause of the criminal code dealing with exceeding official powers and an article dealing with fabrication of evidence.

Birja Mafia members have been released from the courtroom today. The Tbilisi Court of Appeals satisfied the motion of the defense lawyers and replaced prison sentences for the members of Birja Mafia with bail.

Mikheil Mgaloblishvili and Giorgi Keburia will have to pay bails worth GEL 50 000 and GEL 20 000.
