Tbilisi Sakrebulo changes zonal status to 2 land plots in Tbilisi – Noisy sitting ends in conflict
The controversial issue of changing the zonal statuses to two land plots in Tbilisi has been approved at the sitting of Sakrebulo (City Assembly). The sitting proceeded under the background of dispute and ended in conflict.
Members of Environment Protection and Urban Planning Commissions considered the possibility of transferring the land-plots of Pushkin Square and Tabori Mount in hands of Panorama Company, owned by former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Tbilisi Mayoral candidates of oppositional parties and their co-mates tried to breach the working agenda of Sakrebulo. Members of National Movement and European Georgia parties insisted on adjournment of the sitting.
Patrol police were called at site when the situation turned to the tense. Security service officers ordered the National Movement and European Georgia leaders to leave the place allocated for journalists at the Tbilisi City Council Session. The Oppositional members left the sitting in protest.
