Two detained on charges of stealing raw oil from Baku-Supsa pipeline

Officers of Investigative Service of Georgia’s Finance Ministry detained two people on charges of stealing raw oil from the Baku-Supsa pipeline that crosses Georgia. As reported, Giorgi Lashkhiridze and Iago Kakhabrishvili systematically stole raw material from the pipeline. They damaged the BP-owned pipeline at Ruisi, Kareli district, installed a special tap on the damaged spot and received oil. The existing reservoirs were covered by vegetables by them. As reported, they transported and stored the stolen oil in Tbilisi, at the reservoirs located on the old factory territory at Tvalchrelidze Street. They prepared it for further sale. Investigation is underway according to the article that envisages imprisonment for 6-19 years.
