The situation across Georgia’s occupied regions was discussed during the closed-door sitting of United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

The Ukrainian delegation was the initiator of the discussions. The council members made statements in support of Georgia’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity and condemned Russia’s moves.

The statements were made by representatives of US, France, Sweden, Japan, Italy and Ukraine. They slammed the so-called referendum planned in Tskhinvali region and so-called parliamentary elections in Abkhazia.
